Collector's Notes:
Marvelously, the pests who so thoroughly grazed over the binding consistently avoided all of the areas with red coloration, leaving a meticulous pattern and exposing the spine leather. Probably, the pests were avoiding a toxic pigment such as vermilion or minium.
