Collector's Notes:
Gift from T. P. The surface decoration seems almost to have been painted onto a very long-fibred covering material, superficially resembling cotton batting or asbestos—the characteristic corkscrew fibers observed via polarized light microscopy suggest the former.
A table of English rulers at the back of the text lists Victoria I as the current monarch as of June 20 1837.
