Title:
Orationes vel Hortationes Marianae, Ad Almam, Antiquissimam, & Florentissimam Congregationem Majorem Academicam
Author:
Imprint Date:
1706
Publishing Colophon:
Strena. Anni Incarnationis Dominicae M. DCC. VI. Typis Joannis Michaëlis Kleyer, Univ. Typog.
Binding:
Quarter parchment with brocade paper over scaleboards.
Paper:
Brocade: negative floral, fruit, and acanthus design with gold over multi-color stenciled paper
Collector's Notes:
The brocade paper turns in irregularly over the pastedowns and overall the covering fits the textblock rather wonkily. Perhaps it was intended as a sort of repair covering to consolidate a partially loosened or damaged binding, probably over another quarter parchment binding based on the ledge visible/tactile underneath the present covering.
