The condition of this binding makes it nearly indiscernible, but the covering is an example of a mirror-veined paste paper: colored paste was added to a single sheet of paper which was folded in half with the paste sides together, then unfolded to create veins which radiate symmetrically outward from the fold line (along the fore-edge of the back board ~1.5" from the board edge).
