Binding:
“Half” parchment binding with gold-tooled parchment spine, plain paper corners, and blockprinted paper over boards. All pink sponged textblock edges.
Paper:
Two-color blockprint: grey-black diaper/grid with red four-petal daisy fills
Collector's Notes:
Evidence of pink coloring on spine and corner covering, now mostly faded, is present on the parchment turn-ins and underneath the blockprinted covering paper.
This is also the earliest half binding (spine and corners) in the collection, and the use of parchment for this style seems to be a forerunner—there are six more examples in this collection before the first tanned leather example shows up in the 1760s.
