Collector's Notes:
Baby's first bronze-varnish paper. More akin to standard blockprinted papers than to brocade papers, these were printed with finely ground metal dust mixed into a varnish medium using a standard woodblock. The result is a flat impression with no embossing, and the squelchier, softer lines we're used to seeing on blockprinted papers. Brocade papers, in contrast, used engraved metal blocks, heat, and gold leaf to achieve an embossed texture and fine details.
